Abstract

The present work, takes as its fundamental reference the fulfillment of a century since the appearance of the Freudian text “Beyond the Pleasure Principle” where the death drive appears as a fundamental concept, also recalls that a hundred years ago the world was also going through a deadly pandemic, and proposes the idea that Freud’s concept of the Death Drive is a response to such an event. It also places psychoanalysis as a possible response to traumas of planetary dimensions.
